The owner of West Bay Villa was so enamoured with Katharine and the quality of her work that he encouraged her to open a showroom in Doha. After lengthy research, Katharine chose the Gate Mall as its location, considered widely as the most luxurious shopping destination in the city, being home to many luxury British brands. To emphasis the size and drama of the 3000 sqft flagship showroom space, Katharine framed the view from the entrance to the end of the store with intricate joinery and wall panelling. Dividing the space further into smaller room sets, Katharine used spectacular, custom-made, four-metre-tall, brushed brass screens with woven platinum and gold metal mesh and hand-embroidered crystals. These “rooms” prevent the showroom from feeling overwhelming, whilst creating a sense of anticipation and excitement. Most importantly, they physically guide the viewer through each season’s collections and place a spotlight on hero pieces. Every part of the scheme, from the chandelier in the entrance with its hand-moulded, porcelain leaves, to the perfectly bookmatched, Calacatta Oro, marble floor, reaches the same faultless standards of all Katharine’s projects.
